Shanghai, Beijing - March 6, 2008. The internationallaw firm Jones Day has announced the commencement of the 2008 Jones DayInternational Legal Fellowship. This marks the eighth consecutive yearthat Jones Day will award grants to students to encourage the study oflaw in China.
The 2008 Fellowship awards will be given to lawstudents from selected universities in China. Each winner will receiveRmb15,000. Jones Day grants these Fellowships in the hope that eachrecipient will use the monies to support their education and experiencein whichever legal area they choose to pursue.
The Jones DayInternational Legal Fellowship was borne out of the Firm's dedicationto legal development in China. Since 2001, Jones Day has awarded 57Fellowships winners from eight different Shanghai universities: FudanUniversity, the East China University of Politics and Law, the ShanghaiInstitute of Foreign Trade, Shanghai International Studies University,Jiaotong University, Shanghai University, the Shanghai University ofFinance and Economy, and Tongji University, with prizes totalingRmb729,000 (US$102,488). In addition, Jones Day has awarded 20Fellowship winners from five different Beijing universities: PekingUniversity, Tsinghua University, Remin University of China, the ChinaUniversity of Political Science and Law, and the University ofInternational Business and Economics, with prizes totaling Rmb300,000(US$41,666).
In addition to these successful applicants, JonesDay has also received very impressive applications from East ChinaNormal University, the East China University of Science and Technology,and the Shanghai Maritime University.
This year's Jones Day International Legal Fellowship will also be open to applicants of China Foreign Affairs University.

Thecompetition is open to all graduate students attending selecteduniversities in China. It is also open to undergraduate students intheir third year and above attending selected universities in China.Previous Jones Day International Legal Fellowship winners are noteligible for consideration.
