Haynes and Boone law firm has hired six partners in New York City specializing in real estate finance and restructuring.
All six are coming from the New York office of the Paul Hastings law firm. Four of the group, Kenneth J. Friedman, Robert J. Grados, Steven Koch and Walter F. Schleimer, focus on real estate finance. Lawrence Mittman and Carolyn E. Sullivan focus on real estate restructuring.
They are joining Haynes and Boone’s New York office, which opened in 2005 and now counts about 40 attorneys.
Terry Conner, the managing partner of Haynes and Boone, said he expects to roughly double that number of attorneys in New York in the next two years.
“We’re focusing on several practices that we are already strong in New York,” Conner said.
Specifically, the firm is looking to build its corporate, finance, bankruptcy and litigation areas.
The new recruits’ specialization in real estate financing and workout fits nicely with that, he said.
“We expect that the real estate finance and restructuring market will be pretty good in 2010, and even better in the long run.”
