Business Law: Hertz Schram 5 Super Lawyers

•  Court News     updated  2008/03/14 10:51

Five attorneys from Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz Schram, PC (www.hertzschram.com) are among the selections of Michigan Super Lawyers in the 2007 issue of Law & Politics. In fact, this is the second consecutive year that Howard Hertz, Kenneth F. Silver, Walter J. Piszczatowski, Patricia A. Stamler and the late Justin C. Ravitz have received this honor.

Hertz, who formed the law firm of Hertz Schram PC with Bradley Schram in 1979, specializes in entertainment law and is the lead attorney of the firm’s Entertainment Practice Group. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School. Hertz graduated from Wayne State University in 1972 and received his law degree from Wayne State in 1976.

Silver is primarily responsible for the firm’s Real Estate and Probate Administration Practice. The University of Michigan undergraduate and Wayne State University Law School graduate is also a well known mediator and arbitrator. He recently co-founded a Web site called the Deal Gateway (www.thedealgateway.com), which is designed to connect business owners and entrepreneurs with potential business partners and investors.

Piszczatowski is a highly experienced and well-known litigator, specializing in white collar criminal defense and forfeiture law in both state and federal court. He has a particular expertise in representing high profile individuals, including members of the entertainment and sports industries in both criminal and civil matters. He is a 1977 graduate of Wayne State University Law School.

Stamler specializes in employment matters, whistleblower claims, police and governmental misconduct, sexual abuse cases and special education. The Michigan State University and Wayne State University Law School alum is also involved in Hertz Schram’s Commercial Litigation and Securities Practice Groups.

Ravitz, the former Detroit Recorder’s Court judge who passed away in December, specialized in alternate dispute resolution services as a facilitator, mediator and arbitrator on complex cases.

The attorneys featured in Michigan Super Lawyers are selected though a multi-step process. A blue ribbon panel of the top attorneys in each respective practice area evaluates the candidates. The final selection is made by dividing the candidates by their firm size and selecting the top five percent.

Founded in 1979, and headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Hertz Schram PC provides a wide range of legal services to individuals, institutions and industries across the country. Among the firm’s practice areas are securities litigation and regulatory matters, class actions, commercial litigation, corporate, banking and business law and finance, real estate, employment matters, entertainment, ERISA litigation, family law, tax law, estate planning and asset protection, criminal defense, medical and dental professional services, personal injury and product liability.
